realname: Robin Agar referralRehoboth Chamber of Commerce. messageThe Delaware Business, Industry, Education Alliance is looking for enthusiastic people to educate the youth of Delaware about the many career paths that are available. I'm the program coordinator for the "What in the World?" program and I wanted to extend an invitation to you, your colleagues and employees to participate in the program during the 2008-2009 school year. This is a magnificent program that is greeted with enthusiasm and interest by students, their teachers and administrators as well as by our current volunteers. I am trying to build our volunteer base to give the students even more career options. Our goal with this program is to stress the importance of Math, Science and Technology to the students’ futures. I would greatly appreciate your assistance. We expose students in elementary, middle and high schools to careers that deal with math, technology, and science. There are many program scheduled throughout the year at various schools. You choose the ones most convenient for you. The programs are 2 hours long and are held in the school’s cafeteria or gym. Each presenter brings an object that probably wouldn't be recognized by the students. Then they explain how that helps them do their job and how math, science or technology is important to their jobs. The presenters speak for about 10 minutes to each group of students. The students rotate to other presenters in order to be exposed to a wide base of careers. If you are interested in helping to enlighten out students about fantastic career choices, please contact me.
